Who we are
Seven Passes Initiative, established in 2008 in Touwsranten, is dedicated to preventing violence and enhancing educational outcomes. We nurture potential, creating safe, empowered communities where children and adults can thrive.
Vision
A safe society in which all individuals realise their full potential, overcoming poverty and inequality.
Mission
To positively impact rural communities through education, support programs, and contributing to broader social change across South Africa.
History
Founded in 2008 by local community members and commercial farmers, the Seven Passes Initiative emerged as a grassroots response to rising gang activity affecting youth in Touwsranten and Hoekwil. Recognising that a lack of engaging activities, adult supervision, positive role models, and academic challenges contributed to the growth of gang involvement among youth, the community came together to create constructive solutions. Starting with a single homework class attended by just 29 students, the initiative rapidly expanded, now supporting over 300 children across a range of programs.
