Since 2008 the Initiative has employed a fulltime area co-ordinator (Cedrick Buys) whose tasks include:

Managing the running of five homework clubs. Three of these clubs provide homework support and assistance to primary and high school children in Touwsranten, and two operate on farms catering also for both junior and senior school students. The homework clubs are safe spaces where the students receive assistance with their homework from volunteer students from Eden Campus.

Managing a weekly class where volunteer teachers from Glenwood House, a private school in George, provide extra assistance in particular subjects to high school students.

Organising and managing sports activities for the youth in the area.

Organising and managing holiday programmes for youth in the area to ensure that they are kept productively busy during the long vacations.
Since 14 September 2009 the Initiative has employed a computer centre teacher at the Touwsranten Primary School. Several classes are offered every week including a class for primary school learners, two classes for senior school learners and a class for adults. |
